From Games to Plays is a unique book based on 25 years of experience of drama teaching in the language classroom. Each teaching unit is centred on the dramatisation of a simple story and is enriched with a wide range of games, both theatrical and more conventional vocabulary and grammar-based games.
Instructions for the teacher are clear and detailed and are presented on the facing page of each photocopiable activity. The dramatised stories are suitable for reading and performing in class and can also be used as an exciting end-of-year theatrical presentation for friends and family. The units contain two plays for each primary school level and cover every lexical and grammatical area required by the curriculum. For example 'The Happy Egg' at elementary level, reinforces colours, action verbs, animals and emotions, as well as teaching children the importance of developing their unique talents. 'Stone Age Story' is cross-curricular and reinforces vocabulary such as clothes, the home and family.

The author, Jane Elizabeth Read, is an actress, director and English teacher-trainer who understands the needs of teachers, whether they are just starting out or more experienced, who wish to engage in stimulating and valuable activities to bring English lessons to life.
